Storm and wind damage roof repair across Los Angeles, day or night
Wind finds the weak edge first: a ridge that lost its mortar, shingles nailed too high, a rake with thin fastening. We answer around the clock, get the opening covered, and come back for the permanent repair once the roof is dry and the damage is clear.
- Answered 24/7
- Emergency tarping
- Tile and shingle

Storm and wind damage roof repair in Los Angeles happens in two steps: cover the opening now, then repair it permanently once the roof is dry. We answer 24/7, tarp or temporarily seal the damage, photograph it for your records, and return to replace lost shingles, tile, flashing and decking.

Wind damage lands on the same weak spots
Wind damage here tends to arrive with Santa Ana events and winter storms, and it hits predictable places: ridge and hip tiles, rake edges, the first shingle courses at the eave, and anything that was already loose. The rain that follows weeks later is what turns that damage into a ceiling stain.
When you call, tell us whether water is coming in. If it is, we cover the opening first, with a tarp fastened to battens or a temporary membrane, never weighed down with bricks. Photos come to you so you have a record for any claim. For a tree through the roof, the framing gets repaired before the roofing.

Signs of wind damage to check after a Santa Ana night
Check from the ground only.
Shingles or tile on the ground
Pieces in the yard or gutter mean gaps up top.
Lifted shingle tabs
Tabs that flipped have lost their seal and will lift again.
A bare ridge or hip
Missing ridge caps expose the top of every slope.
Bent flashing or vents
Metal peeled back at walls or vents lets water in.
Grit in the downspouts
A sudden pile of granules means shingles were scoured.
Branches on the roof
Even a small limb can crack tile or puncture shingles.
New drips after rain
Water at the next rain confirms an opening.
What happens when you call about storm damage
Tell us what you see
Water coming in, a tree on the roof, or pieces on the ground sets the priority.
Make it safe
We check for downed lines and structural risk before anyone goes up.
Cover the opening
A tarp goes on over battens, or a temporary membrane goes down.
Document the damage
Photos of every damaged area, for your records and any claim.
Permanent repair
Matched shingles, tile, flashing and decking go back once the roof is dry.
From the first cover to the finished repair
Emergency roof tarping
A tarp is only as good as its fastening. We run it over the ridge where we can, fasten it to wood battens instead of piling bricks on it, and seal the edges on low slopes. On tile we support the tiles so the tarp doesn't crack more. A well-set tarp holds through the next rain. If the tarp has to stay through more than one storm, we check it after storms, since a loose edge can channel water into the house faster than the original damage.

Blown-off shingles and tiles
Shingles blow off when the seal was weak or the nails sat too high; tiles go when mortar or rusted nails let them move. We replace missing pieces with matched material, hand-seal lifted tabs, and refasten ridge and rake tiles with clips or foam adhesive. If most of a slope is gone, we say when repair stops making sense. We also document damage for insurance before replacing anything, so the adjuster can see what the wind took and what was already there.

Tree and debris impact repair
A limb through the roof is a framing job first. Once it's cleared, we open the area, check rafters and sheathing, repair broken framing and lay new decking before the covering goes back. Smaller impacts get the same check, because a cracked rafter under an intact patch sags later. Gutters, fascia and ridge caps near the impact point are checked too, because a falling limb often damages more than the hole in the roof itself.
Santa Ana winds push through the mountain passes into the basin at 60 to 80 mph, with canyon gusts past 100, and they dry roofing out as they go. Hillside roofs take the worst of it and are the hardest to cover quickly: steep pitches in Silver Lake and the Hollywood Hills, and in parts of Encino and Pasadena, need more rigging before anyone can tarp them safely. If you call from a hillside street, tell us the pitch and access so the right gear comes out.
How long storm repairs take once the roof is covered
Covering the roof happens on the first visit. Shingles and common concrete tile can usually be matched quickly, while older clay colors take longer to source.
After a big wind event scheduling can stretch, and a well-fastened tarp buys the time to do the repair right.
What storm damage repairs cost depends on
Storm repairs are priced once the damage is visible. Five things drive the number:
- Emergency visit and tarp
Temporary cover is its own line item, done before the permanent work.
- How much material was lost
A few shingles and a whole slope are different jobs.
- Tile matching
Salvage clay tile costs more and takes longer to find.
- Framing and decking
Impact damage below the surface adds carpentry.
- Access
Steep hillside roofs need more setup to work safely.
Many homeowner policies cover sudden wind damage. Dated photos and a clear written description of what we found help the adjuster see what happened.

No. Check from the ground, photograph what you see, move valuables away from any drip, and call.
Many policies cover sudden wind damage, but terms vary. Our dated photos and written notes help the adjuster.
It is meant to hold until the repair, usually weeks. Sun breaks tarps down, so it isn't a long-term answer.
Usually. Many shingle colors and concrete profiles are still made; for old clay we find salvage or borrow tiles from a hidden slope.
Have it checked. Impacts can crack rafters or tile without an immediate leak.
Fix loose tiles and lifted shingles, check ridge mortar and trim overhanging branches. Our Santa Ana roof prep guide walks through it.
