About our roofing work in Los Angeles

We repair and replace roofs for homes and buildings across Los Angeles from an office in El Sereno. This page covers what we do, how a job runs from the first call to cleanup, where we work, and who writes the guides on this site.

What we do

One crew for the whole roof

The roofing side of Alfonso's Remodeling & General Contracting covers the whole roof: leak and storm repairs, shingle and tile work, full replacements, flat and low-slope systems for homes and apartment buildings, inspections, and the roofline pieces that fail alongside a roof, from skylights and flashing to fascia, gutters and decking.

Most of our work is on the kinds of houses Los Angeles is full of: older homes with a layer or two of history on the roof, Spanish and Mediterranean houses under clay tile, Valley ranch homes under concrete tile, and duplexes and small apartment buildings under flat roofs. The approach stays the same across all of them: find the cause, fix it properly, and say plainly what the roof needs.

How a job runs

From the first call to the last magnet sweep

  1. A person answers

Day or night, someone picks up, asks what the roof is doing and sets the priority.

  2. We look first

The roof, and the attic when we can reach it. Photos of what we find come with the visit.

  3. Scope in writing

What we will do, with what material, under which permit, and roughly when.

  4. The work itself

Opened only as far as we can close the same day, built to the code for your address.

  5. Cleanup and records

Debris hauled, nails swept, inspection booked, and photos of the finished work.

How we work

Four habits we keep on every job

We look before we price

No quote without seeing the roof and, where we can, the attic.

Water first

An active leak gets covered before anything else is discussed.

Photos of everything

You see the damage, the repair and the finished work.

Clean sites

Daily cleanup, magnet sweeps and every scrap hauled away.

Based in El Sereno, working across the city

We work across Los Angeles, from the Eastside and Northeast LA through the hills and central neighborhoods, over into the San Fernando Valley, and out to the Westside, the South Bay and southeast LA County. The service area page describes each region and says where coverage ends.

Our office is in El Sereno, and calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The fastest way to reach us is the phone number at the top of every page.

Who writes our guides

Sadie Yancey, roofing guides editor

The guides on this site are written and kept current by Sadie Yancey, our roofing guides editor. They are meant to answer the questions homeowners ask before they call: what a new roof costs here, what to do in the first hour of a leak, how tile compares with shingle, and what the fire and cool-roof rules mean for a re-roof.

Every guide is written for Los Angeles roofs specifically, and each one is dated so you know how current it is. You can read them all on the roofing guides page.
